I was a huge fan of AEIOU back in the 80's and at the time wasn't able to find anything aside from the 12" single for AEIOU. I played that single to death. I looked everywhere for Feeling Cavalier and never found it. In the 80s, I was limited by where my parent's car was going.
Throughout the 90s, I had a number of items on my "quest list" - I'd seriously visit all the record stores in a city hoping to find a CD/LP/single from the list. Feeling Cavalier was near the top of the list along with Men Without Hats, Figures on a Beach and other synth-based stuff. I did finally find a copy of Feeling Cavalier in the late 90s, but by that time didn't have a turntable to play it on.
I recently purchased an SL-1210 M5G (top of the line Technics turntable) with the intent of digitizing my collection and enjoying the sound of vinyl. Feeling Cavalier was going to be one of the first records - allowing me to hear it for the first time. I had such mixed feelings about breaking the seal on that record.
But before I had a chance to rip into my vinyl copy, I stumbled across the Wounded Bird website and freaked out when I saw that this CD had finally been released (in 2006). It's taken many weeks to get it into my hands, but it finally arrived today. I'm listening to it for the first time right now. Seems so strange to be getting to know "old friends" 25 years later than was intended.
I'm just sad that there wasn't anything more after this.
I don't think I ever found the Bag Lady 12", and would love the chance to hear it.

The day of the record store is long gone at this point and I don't have the patience to browse record bins like I once did. After all, most of my "quest items" had been found over the years - or otherwise identified (with help from the masses on the 'net) as "impossible to find". The thrill of the hunt was cool back then - I can't imagine embarking upon such a quest today. The Internet makes such a search a piece of cake - especially if you don't mind sending lots of money to get what you want.
