For anyone not familiar with EBN OZN, here is the video to the song that introduced me to them 24 years ago.
Everyone has a discovery story, and mine is this...
I was watching MTV at my grandparents' house in Virginia late one night, and this video was shown. I had no idea who EBN OZN was or how to even pronounce the name. (For those that don't, it is EEBEN OHZEN.) The song made a huge impression on me, and I wrote their name down on a piece of paper. I took it back home to NC and it went missing.
Since I only saw the video once - possibly twice but I don't remember - it slipped my mind.
About 6 or so years after that, (maybe 1990 or so), I found the paper. At first, I had no idea what it meant, then it hit me that there was a song by them I liked, but for the life of me I couldn't remember what it was. So, back to the back of my mind it went, but the name never left my consciousness.
Skip ahead to somewhere around 2001 or so. I decided to search for EBN OZN and see what I could find out. All I could find was a single news article that mentioned that - sadly - Ned "EBN" Liben had died of a heart attack in 1998. He was only 44.
Now, skip ahead to around the end of June, start of July of this year. In May I went to the Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, SC and had a blast. While posting some video of my vacation on YouTube, on a whim I decided to look for EBN OZN, and lo and behold there were the videos for AEIOU Sometimes Y and Bag Lady (I Wonder). After - literally - half of my life, I finally found the video that made such a huge impression on me all that time ago.
In July, I purchased the CD from Amazon and my life hasn't been the same since. Feeling Cavalier is possibly - no, make that definitely - one of the best albums to come out of the 80's, and one of my all time favorites.
Thanks goes to k8fan for sharing this great video.
Enjoy!
