A couple of weeks ago I went to see Lyle Lovett with John Hiatt, and what a show! No one should miss this. They were both on their acoustic guitars and took turns playing their own songs. A few times they played a song together. In between they told funny stories and sometimes told the stories behind the songs. I have seen Lyle a couple of times by himself, but I had never seen John Hiatt before. I am still not really a John Hiatt fan, but my love for Lyle will never waver. Definitely catch this show if you can!

That was a great show! As you can see by my signature, I am definitely a fan. Here I Am was the first song I ever heard by him and it made me laugh my ass off. I had to hear more at that point. He definitely is not your average country singer. In fact, I don't consider him country. Just "eclectic".

I have a hard time classifying him as country. What is funny is that nearly everyone I know that likes country music does not like him, and nearly everyone I know that doesn't like country music does like him. (Of course those are broad generalizations, but they fit in most cases.) He does a few songs that are a bit too twangy for my taste, but the majority of his music is decidely non-country. Blues, jazz, big band, some rock/pop. He does it all.
