This summer I had a hard time deciding where I was going to spend my vacation, then I learned about the Hard Rock Park opening in Myrtle Beach. That is only a 5 hour drive from here, and I am a Hard Rock whore, so it wasn't that tough to decide on.
I got my season pass, booked a room on Travelocity, and headed on down. I wound up only going twice because my feet were hurting pretty badly after the first day. The second day I went, I went in the evening since it was open to 1 AM. I rode the Led Zeppelin about 8 times, the Moody Blues dark ride about as many, but only rode Max RPM twice because the wait was sooooo long due to maintenance and other problems. However, the wait was well worth it. That is one fast coaster! And very unique. The ferris wheel lift is one of a kind.
There is something imaginative around every corner. It is very well designed and thought out. It is just too bad that they picked a bad year to open. There was hardly anyone there - which was nice for the fact that there was never a long wait for rides. (Max RPM excepted.) However, because of the bad economy, it filed for bankruptcy. The good news is they do plan on opening next year and extending season passes by 6 months. I do plan on going back, that is for sure. Riding Led Zep and Max RPM alone are well worth it.

Maximum RPM is one of the coolest rides I have ever been on. Part Ferris Wheel, part roller coaster...and I hate Ferris Wheels. I was not able to video my ride though. They made me put the camera in my pocket even though it was strapped VERY securely to my watch. The only drawback is the fact that Karaoke is part of the waiting in line experience. Not bad when it is a decent song sung by someone that can actually carry a tune, but if the ride doesn't make you barf, the wait just might. While I was at the Hard Rock Park, I pretty much got on all the rides with very little to no wait, but this one was different. Between people working on it and the fact that they sometimes let cars go empty for some reason, the wait was very long. I rode it twice. The first wait was about 35 minutes and the 2nd wait was almost a full hour. However, it is well worth the wait. And what I didn't realize until later is that the building design is based on the cover art of Pink Floyds' "Animals". Sometimes it takes me a while to catch on. At least I did get an outside shot of how it runs. Enjoy! This isn't my ride, it was posted by cduran82. www.youtube.com/watchv=BonP23V4gZg&feature=related

Here is my ride on the Led Zeppelin. I pieced together still photos of the area around the coaster, and outside shot of the ride, the waiting area with the Led Zeppelin film, and the ride itself. You may want to mute the ride part as I am a screamer. (On coasters, that is...don't be wandering in any other territory!)

Here I pieced together other stills for a quick look at the park.

Day to night, the lagoon at the Hard Rock Park is a busy place. The obvious highlight is the fireworks show set to Queens' Bohemian Rhapsody.

Oh my hell....I just found the funniest video. It doesn't show the park, but it doesn't really matter. Thanks to RazerXP for posting this. This is Flake And Flosh in Must Have Been To Hard Rock Park.
