On the 1st December 2008, BBC's The One Show started a special project to try and create the next classic Christmas hit.Hopefully people outside of the UK will be able to watch those videos. >.< Anyway, The One Show's Des Coleman looked at various elements that make a classic Christmas hit. Examples used were beloved Christmas hits such as Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody and Wizzard's I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday. Chris Difford of Squeeze was involved in the project and can be heard providing lead vocals on the track. He also provided lyrics for the song. I believe he also arranged the melody. The track became available for sale on iTunes soon after being performed on The One Show Friday evening. The One Show's site also lists it as being available on Napster, HMV and Tesco Digital. Personally I've had no luck finding it on Tesco Digital, but I was able to buy it from Amazon's UK site yesterday evening. 20p from every sale of the track goes towards British charity, Children in Need. Unfortunately I'm not sure if it is possible to obtain this track if you live outside of the UK. Crossing my fingers for you!

Thank you Kisrah. When I next get the good computer I will definitely try it. Chris Difford has such a great voice. I am really more partial to Glenn Tilbrook, but Chris is very good. (Striking Matches on Babylon And On is great.)

Slade has a Christmas one? Are they still around? All I remember is Run Runaway from the 80's. I even still see that vid once in a while on VH1 Classic. They aren't very well known here.

I'll have to check those songs out. Hehe. Hope you're able to get it. I don't know if it's available outside the UK. xP
Oh not at the moment! xD The One Show were just talking to one of Slade's members as part of their segment on making a Christmas hit. I'd be surprised if they were recording anything new. O.O But yes they did have a big Christmas hit with Merry Xmas Everybody. It's probably on YouTube. *is too lazy to look right now* x)

Well, you were right, Kisrah. No go over here in the boring part of the world. I've got to be getting to bed, but I'll look the Slade song up this weekend. Oh, well, I am sure someone will sneak the other on YouTube as well. Everything in the free world seems to end up there. ;D
